How can I help reduce or prevent mosquito population on my property.
Remove any standing water from your property. Standing water can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes. To prevent standing water, rid property of tires and debris, and turn any empty barrels, pots, or wading pools over so they do not hold water. Empty bird baths daily. Use outdoor trash receptacles that have lids for yard waste, and be sure they are closed securely. Keep bushes trimmed and weeds/grass cut. Fill in low lying areas in your yard to prevent pooling and make sure ditches flow freely. Keep gutters clear of debris and leaves so rain water flows freely, and repair sagging areas to prevent pooling.
